From Van Gogh to Kirchner, students explore the world of fine arts through painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture. They use this inspiration as a launching pad for their own creations, as they produce their own art masterpieces in 2-D and 3-D.
The session culminates with a curated display of the work created by the children during the course of the session. Families, faculty, and students are invited to view the young artist’s own “Art Gallery.” Seeing the work on view provides palpable inspiration to the younger students and a sense of pride and accomplishment to see their work prominently displayed!

ClayPlayStudio: Shape, Play, Imagine!
Ages: Kindergarten, and Elementary
ClayPlayStudio™ introduces children in Kindergarten through Grade 2 to the exciting world of ceramics through hands-on exploration, imagination, and artistic discovery. More than simply learning to work with clay, young artists discover how people throughout history and around the world have used ceramics to create beautiful, functional, and meaningful works of art.
As the year progresses, students explore a variety of hand-building techniques—including pinch pots, slab construction, coil building, sculpting, texturing, joining, and glazing—while drawing inspiration from nature, renowned ceramic artists, and diverse cultural traditions. Each project encourages creativity, problem-solving, patience, confidence, and individual artistic expression while allowing every child to develop their own unique artistic style.
As children grow as artists, they build both technical skills and an appreciation for ceramics as one of the world’s oldest art forms. Throughout the program, students create a collection of professionally kiln-fired ceramic artwork that celebrates their imagination, craftsmanship, and artistic growth.
Program Includes
Progressive instruction in hand-building ceramics techniques
Pinch pots, slab construction, coil building, sculptural projects, and decorative techniques
Exploration of texture, pattern, color, glazing, and surface design
